A ‘Green’ Building
East Port Properties is widely known for the development of environmentally-friendly ‘green’ buildings using sustainable practices, resulting in healthy, efficient, and interesting spaces.
351 is a Canadian Green Building Council LEED® Certification Candidate, and will be constructed to the LEED® Gold standard of these guidelines. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) is an internationally recognized green building certification system that promotes sustainable building and development practices.
351 is inspired by its surroundings. Designed to respect our natural environment, it will be the first sea water heated and cooled building in Newfoundland and Labrador. Based on an innovative system developed by East Port for Purdy’s Wharf office and commercial complex in Halifax, natural tide technology will utilize the thermal energy of the tides that flow beneath the building’s harbour front land to heat and cool the building. The unique design, believed to be the first of its kind in Newfoundland and Labrador, is expected to provide significant environmental and economic results.
